    Club Origins: (1958 - 1973)

The origins of our cricket club can be traced right back to the formation of the North Ryde R.S.L. Club in 1958. At that time a group of members now referred to as the old brigade and/or the flannelled fools began playing cricket on a social and at times comical level. These non-competitive games among club members continued right through the 1960's with the Youngies Vs Oldies matches also starting at this time.

The first competitive sides to play under the North Ryde R.S.L. name began in 1966 from the newly formed Youth Club. Several boys teams were entered into the Gladesville D.C.A. competitions with juniors from that era such as Rob McKenna, Terry Luckman and David Robbins all going on to have distinguished careers with the yet to be formed senior cricket section.

The momentum for a senior North Ryde R.S.L. cricket section really took hold in early 1973 after a social match was played between R.S.L. club members and team calling themselves Boon and Willand. After this game it was suggested that an approach be made to the Board of Directors to ascertain whether it was possible to enter a senior team in the Gladesville D.C.A. for the 1973/74 season. It didn't take long for the Board to give their answer.
